Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant

From Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant manager blog, Mr.Ismail;

The food, ambiance and service

If you are staying somewhere around Kuah Toun, the dining options in town are dull and insanely expensive by Langkawi standards. By the sea at Jalan Penarak, you will have one good restaurant, called Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant. Our specialise is seafood. The service, location and food are great.

Amazed by the atmosphere

Located at Jalan Penarak, very close to ferry terminal, some local says Fish Farm Restaurant is famous with its seafood. It’s true, you will be amazed by the atmosphere, sea breeze and the surrounding of hillside. Another reason why you must dine at Fish farm is, the fish farm itself.

Restaurant map - click pic for large

Fish the fish in cages.

Yup, come to our farm, grab some rod and the bait, and start fishing. The fish catches, will be cooked and served on the table for you. There are varieties of fish available. Do not worry about charges. What you see on the menu is what you pay. NO hidden charges. Rod and bait is free. But the fish (depend on the species, will weight and charge accordingly). Anyway, everything is great.

Great sceneries

At this themed restaurant, especially for student and children, it is another 'classroom' for them. They can found many species of life fish; learn how people breed fish, fish living eco-system without going out the open sea. You are not just having diner but education too. For adult, you would enjoy the scenery, garden, ambience as well as soft music played for you all day.

Ironman Langkawi 2010 - result
Granger completes hattrick in women's race, Vanhoenacker takes men's title

2010/02/27

LANGKAWI: Belgium triathlete Marino Vanhoenacker clinched the men's title as defending champion Luke McKenzie quit half way through the grueling Ironman Langkawi 2010 race due to food poisoning here today.
Vanhoenacker, winner of the Austria and Florida professional triathlon events last year, clocked 8 hours 22 minutes 31 seconds to better McKenzie's previous winning time by 4 minutes 17 seconds (8''22:31s).

"This is my second Ironman Langkawi appearance after finishing as runner-up in 2003. Before coming here I had worked very hard and all the hard work has paid off," said Marino who was regarded as a champion only in cooler climates, especially in Europe.
Mckenzie, from Australia had taken a commanding lead after the swimming routine and was also leading in the 120km cycling routine when he decided to give up, apparently due to food poisoning.

Japanese ace Hiroyuki Nishiuchi clocked (8''50:52s for second place while Romain Guillaume of France was third with a time of 8''54:38 in the race that ended at Dataran Lang, Kuah Jetty, here.

In the women's professional category, defending champion Belinda Granger from Australia, made it an unprecedented three titles in a row with a time of 9''23:33s though her winning time was slower than the 9''21:10s she set last year.
"During the swimming and cycling routines, I faced stiff competition but I was able to pull away during the run," said Granger.

Her fellow countrywoman Edith Niederfriniger clocked 9''35:02s to take second place ahead of Hillary Biscay of the United States (10''10:59s) while Ariane Monticeli of Brazil finished fourth with a time of 10''15:17s.
Meanwhile, local ace Mohd Hafiz Wong who competed in the amateur category swept the men''s title with a time of 10''08:16.
Participants were required to complete three routines, comprising 3.8km (swimming), 180km (cycling) and 42km (run).
The Ironman challenge which offered US$50,000 (RM170,500) as total prize money, featured 690 triathletes from 41 countries. -- BERNAMA

IRONMAN LANGKAWI MALAYSIA TRIATHLON

EVENT DATE : 27 February 2010

Ironman Malaysia takes place on Langkawi, a popular island resort destination in Malaysia. It's tough not because of the course, which consists of a very warm swim, a rolling bike and a relatively flat run course. It's tough because it can get really hot, especially during the run. How hot? In 2001 temperatures that reached 43 degrees Celsius (which is very close to 110 degrees Fahrenheit for anyone who thinks in those terms).

Swimming
The day begins with a two-loop swim in Kuah Bay which starts and finishes alongside a giant eagle statue that dominates the Jetty Point port area.

Biking
The revised bike course is 177km long and consists of one large loop (55k) and 3 x small loops (37.5k) plus 9.5k to finish. We avoid the crowded section of Padang Matsirat Rd between Lubuk Semilang and Air Hangat Rds until the end of the bike course as the competitors come back to the finish. The course is as follows with the distance being the cumulative distance:
Start to Air Hangat Rd Lights 2.9k
Lights to Roundabout 19,9k
Roundabout to Lubuk Semilang Rd 27.75k
Lubuk Semilang to lights cnr Ulu Melaka and Padang Matsirat 33.25k
Lights to Bohor Tempoyak Rd Laman Padi 42.05k
Laman Padi to Lights at Bukit Malut and Padang Matsirat 55k
Lights to Thai Rest corner (Lubuk Semilang) 58.5k
Thai Rest corner to Thai Rest corner 96.03
Lap 2 133.56
Lap 3 171.1k
Thai Rest to Finish 177.2k

The critical locations for police traffic management are:
1. Exit from park at bike start
2. Rt turn to Seaview Hotel
3. Left turn at Seaview corner
4. Town exits onto Seaview Rd
5. Lights at Air Hanget Rd
6. Lights opposite Petrol Station, also managing traffic into Petrol Station on run.
7. Roundabout ( lap 1 only)
8. Padang Lalang Rd and Lubuk Semilang rds
9. Lights at end of Ulu Melaka rd
10. Airport roundabouts
11. Left turn after airport
12. Left turn at Lamin Padi
13. Rt turn onto Kedawang rd
14. Lights at end of Bukit Malut Rd
15. Lights at Hospital
16. Left turn at Lubuk Semilang lights ( straight through at these lights to finish)
17. All major intersections to Air Hangat lights for finishing riders

Signage:For the bike course there will individual distance signs every 10 k from 10k and finishing with 170k

Running
It is the run that makes the race in Langkawi so tough. The terrain isn't that challenging - it's the heat that the athletes face as they go through the marathon that makes things difficult. After the fourth loop is complete, they run one kilometer back to the jetty, and end the day at the beautiful finish line which is just meters short of the spectacular eagle statue, a welcome beacon at the end of what will no-doubt be a tough day of racing.
New info
