MAH Charity Bash was a success

Dear Friends,
As I have been asked by a number of people about this event, I hope you don't mind if I just post one more note to give those who are interested a short wrap-up. Rather than rewritng it all, I have just copied/pasted a press release below that has been put together by my good friend Jason from Casa Del Mar:
Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) – Kedah & Perlis Chapter raises a fantastic RM89,000 for underprivileged families of Langkawi.
On Saturday 14th November 2009, the MAH Kedah and Perlis Chapter held the MAH Charity Bash to raise money for underprivileged families and local communities in Langkawi. The event was held at Bella Vista Hotel in Kuah and attracted 330 guests who enjoyed this event.
The money was raised from all entry tickets and silent auctions. The Silent Auctions list included romantic weekends at premium hotels throughout Asia, artwork, a diamond ring, all inclusive day cruises and other local activities that were donated from local businesses and neighboring resorts. A raffle was also held for weekend for two at the Four Season Langkawi’s Beach Villa worth RM13,000 which was won by a happy Langkawi resident.

The event was world class and the first for Langkawi. The jewel of the evening was certainly the entertainment headlined by internationally renowned jazz Singer Mandy Gaines and local entertainers The Soliano’s and Nine Lives.
Hannah Coombes, an expatriate resident of Langkawi stated “This is certainly the best night of entertainment and good will that Langkawi has seen in my 6 years of living here”.
The hotels vied for supremacy in relation to who had the best food and service. Whilst every hotel specialized in a different theme, I believe the guests were the winner on the night sampling very high quality food from the best hotels in Langkawi. The main beverage suppliers of Langkawi were highly supportive of the event to ensure each guest was a little more generous on the silent auctions and certainly assisted the dance floor.

Food and beverage aside, it was certainly the who who’s of nightly events in Langkawi and this evening could not have happened without a united effort from the MAH General Managers, Chefs & F&B Managers of Langkawi. Thanks must also be given to the many hotel staff that set up, worked on the night and packed down the event. These staff came from various hotels though worked this event in a united effort, also the first for Langkawi.

The MAH Kedah and Perlis chapter are yet to confirm that if this is to become an annual event for the greater good of Langkawi’s underprivileged families. We can only wait in hope and anticipation for a positive answer.

Thanks and kind regards,

Enzo
